Joyalukkas Foundation has an ongoing commitment to community healthcare and voluntary service. It has donated modern medical equipment to the newly established Gastroenterology department at a General Hospital in Kerala.
Shri Hibi Eden, MP, inaugurated the ceremony at the hospital, with Dr. Joy Alukkas, Chairman of Joyalukkas Group, serving as the chief guest. The project was realized with an initial fund allocation of ₹ 50 lakh from Joy Alukkas, following a suggestion by Shri Hibi Eden.
During his inaugural speech, Shri Hibi Eden pointed out the importance of efficient growth in the government healthcare sector, especially in light of rising medical costs. He praised the Joyalukkas Group’s intervention, stating that support from such benefactors can help create history in the healthcare sector and will be highly beneficial to the common man.
While addressing the crowd, Dr. Joy Alukkas highlighted the Group’s various initiatives in the health sector. He announced the launch of a new initiative to assist 1,000 cancer patients on World Cancer Day. He also mentioned that they have already taken some steps to establish a charitable hospital in Thrissur, specifically dedicated to pediatric cancer treatment.
After personally assessing the conditions and requirements at the General Hospital, Dr. Joy Alukkas promised an additional ₹50 lakh to procure the remaining necessary equipment for the Gastroenterology department. The state-of-the-art medical equipment handed over to the hospital was imported from England.
The event also featured the felicitation of Dr. Paulose George, a Gastroenterologist who returned to his homeland after a 30-year career in London, volunteering to offer his services in the government sector entirely free of charge.
Ernakulam MLA Shri T.J. Vinod presided over the ceremony. Key attendees included Hospital Superintendent Dr. Shahirsha R., RMO Dr. Ameera, Dr. Paulose George, Chief Nursing Officer Renuka C.C., and the Hospital Development Society (HDS).
