Joyalukkas Foundation Leads Vision Care, and Clean Water Initiative in Edamalakkudy

Edamalakkudy, Kerala: Reinforcing its commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, the Joyalukkas Foundation organized a comprehensive social welfare initiative in Edamalakkudy, Kerala’s first tribal panchayat. The multifaceted outreach programme focused on addressing critical health and wellness needs while improving access to safe drinking water in this remote and underserved region.
A major highlight of the initiative was a free, specialized eye care camp conducted exclusively for the tribal residents. Medical professionals carried out detailed eye examinations, identifying and addressing vision-related concerns that often remain untreated in isolated communities. Following the screenings, free spectacles were distributed to beneficiaries requiring vision correction. For individuals in need of advanced medical treatment, the Foundation announced hospital partnerships to ensure continued care and long-term vision health support.
Recognizing the importance of clean and accessible drinking water, the Foundation also strengthened local infrastructure by installing advanced water purification units at key community centers, including the Panchayat Office, the Primary Health Center ( order (PHC), the Vana Samrakshana Samithi (VSS) office, and the local school.
The programme was inaugurated by Panchayat President M. Binu in the presence of senior CSR officials of the Joyalukkas Foundation. This initiative stands as a testament to the Foundation’s sustained Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission to create sustainable, healthier living environments and improve the overall quality of life for tribal communities.
