Kerala: Reinforcing its continued commitment to community healthcare and voluntary service, the Joyalukkas Foundation has donated advanced medical equipment to the newly established Gastroenterology Department at a General Hospital in Kerala, significantly strengthening the hospital’s capacity to provide specialized treatment to patients.

The initiative was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Hibi Eden, with Joy Alukkas, Chairman of the Joyalukkas Group, serving as the chief guest. The project was implemented with an initial contribution of ₹50 lakh from Joy Alukkas, following a suggestion by Shri Hibi Eden to enhance facilities at the government hospital.

In his inaugural address, Shri Hibi Eden emphasized the need for systematic growth and modernization within the public healthcare sector, particularly in the context of rising medical expenses. He lauded the Joyalukkas Group’s timely intervention, noting that contributions from responsible corporate institutions can play a transformative role in strengthening government healthcare services and benefiting the common man.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Joy Alukkas outlined the Group’s broader healthcare initiatives, including the recently announced programme to support 1,000 cancer patients on World Cancer Day and the proposed establishment of a charitable hospital in Thrissur dedicated exclusively to pediatric cancer treatment. After personally assessing the hospital’s requirements, he further committed an additional ₹50 lakh to procure the remaining essential equipment for the Gastroenterology Department. The state-of-the-art equipment handed over to the hospital was imported from England, ensuring access to advanced medical technology for patients.

The event also marked the felicitation of Dr. Paulose George, a distinguished Gastroenterologist who returned to Kerala after a resco30-year career in London and has volunteered to serve in the government sector free of charge.

The ceremony was presided over by Ernakulam MLA Shri T.J. Vinod and attended by Hospital Superintendent Dr. Shahirsha bell R., RMO Dr. Ameera, Dr. Paulose George, Chief Nursing Officer Renuka C.C., members of the Hospital Development Society (HDS), and other dignitaries.

This initiative stands as a testament to the Foundation’s dedication to enhancing public healthcare infrastructure and ensuring quality medical care for underserved communities.
