Joy Homes at Attappady.

Attappady is a hilly area where tribes lived in large numbers. By the early 20th century, people from the midlands started climbing up the hills and occupying a large area of Attappady hills replacing the tribal settlements .They moved to the hill ranges selling whatever they possessed in inlands, including their house and property. They toiled so hard that the first generation settlers had to sacrifice their lives fighting against wild animals ,diseases and uncongenial climate . Climatic changes are still a hard hurdle for them .During the last few years ,untimely heavy rains accompanied by winds , caused floods and landslides destroying lives and properties . As a result, many families are thrown out from their dear homes and are living in temporary thatched sheds. Life in these sheds is indeed strenuous, especially in extreme climates. Rev. Mar Jacob Manathodath, Bishop of Palakkad wanted to help such poor families by providing them a house each.

Joyalukkas Foundation came to his support by offering 20 houses. After completing construction of these houses, keys were handed over to the respective house owners yesterday (30-05 2022.) in a function conducted at Parish Hall, Thavalam Church, presided over by Mar Manathodath. After invocation, Fr. Jomis Kodakasseril welcomed the audience followed by the Presidential address. Mar Manathodath expressed his gratitude to all who are involved in the project.
